THE DISTRIBUTOR

Working back through the ignition system we come to the distributor which not only distributes the high-tension current to the sparking plugs but also includes a contact-breaker that interrupts the low-voltage current passing from the battery through the ignition coil (as described in more detail later), and automatic timing devices that vary the timing of the sparks at the plugs to suit the engine running conditions at any moment, as described on page 93.
