MAJOR OVERHAULS

If the engine has covered a very high mileage, a partial overhaul may not be very effective. It will probably be necessary to reborc the cylinders

The engine and standard transmission. On later models a sixteen-blade fan is fitted and the latest type of clutch has a diaphragm spring

instead of the coil springs illustrated and fit oversize pistons, regrind the crankshaft journals to take undersize connecting-rod and main-bearing shells and renew the timing chain and sprockets and possibly also the oil pump and the starter ring gear. Un¬doubtedly the most satisfactory course in such cases will be to install a new engine under the service-exchange scheme.
