Refitting the Plugs

Make sure the sealing washers are not flattened and screw the plugs home by hand, using the plug spanner only for the final half-turn to ensure a gas-tight joint. Overtightening is unnecessary and likely to lead to trouble. If the plugs cannot be screwed in by hand, ask the local garage to clean-up the threads in the cylinder head with a plug thread tap.
